The Septembre series solves an age-old conundrum of sofa design: while fully-upholstered sofas are comfortable, they often look boxy and inelegant. More structured sofas are aesthetically pleasing yet are seldom made for relaxation. The Septembre Sofa harmonises elements of each style. The refined bent wood arms and backrest give structure, while inviting seating cushions provide maximum comfort. A sofa of beautiful proportions, Septembre’s stately yet intimate aesthetic gives it a contemporary feel. The sofa, with its high backrest, looks as good behind as the front – ideal for standing freely in a room, creating a separate, enclosed area.

Includes one decorative pillow of same material as seat & back cushions.

Studio Theresa Rand is based in Copenhagen and is working on furniture and interior design related projects. The focus of the studio's work is on the use of natural, authentic and lasting materials and the way in which they are combined. Creating functional but poetic furniture with a story to tell, as well as spaces with a warm atmosphere for the people living and being in them. Theresa’s thinking is very intuitive – "Although functionality is very important, too, the atmosphere, which furniture and objects create and the impact, which they have on a space and on people using this space is crucial." Originally, Theresa Arns studied languages at the University of Cologne and graduated in 2005. Her later career was followed by architecture studies at the Peter Behrens School of Architecture in Düsseldorf, in Germany. Afterwards, Theresa Arns graduated with a concentration in a Master of Arts in Architecture & Furniture Design at the Royal Academy of Arts, in Denmark. Alongside her studies, Theresa Arns worked as freelance with namely design offices, like Norm Architects or Space Copenhagen. That was when her first introductory pieces for MENU were sketched.

Theresa Arns philosophy is characterized by pure lines with sensual expression through their tactile qualities. “I believe I work on a very ‘German’ way. I am pragmatic, but I also think that all the things surrounding us play a warm, poetic part. I like to work with different materials and shapes, and I always try to design simple objects that tell a story”, explained the designer.
